Supt John Rodgers is no longer with Crete-Monee School District 201-U, according to a district employee who referred a call this morning to Assistant Superintendent, Human Resources, Anthony Edison. Edison didn’t immediately return the call.
Rodgers has been superintendent since March 2007.
The board of education, which opted to not renew his contract, hired Rosemont-based Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates to conduct the search for a new superintendent in September. Ron Patton, one of the firm’s primary contacts, served as interim superintendent between Roberta Berry’s departure and Rodgers’ promotion from assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction.
Rodgers was present at the Nov. 12 board of education meeting.
His more-than 20 years’ experience in education — at least half of it in the crete-monee system — includes serving as principal of the former Hickory Elementary School and of Balmoral Elementary School, formerly known as Crete-Monee Intermediate Center.
As head of the newly opened Intermediate Center in 1996, he was responsible for running the then-$500,000 technology program, which served 700 students in the district.
